Shaping futures: yours and theirs.

What Careers that Care want to achieve...

Our aim is to encourage young people to consider a career in what we call the ‘caring professions’ inside the health and social care sector, to support autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Our project covers South West England, but we take inspiration from everywhere we can find it!

In the coming weeks we will share information on this website about career pathways, links to available jobs, and other people’s stories. Watch this space!

What can you do to help?

If you’re an autistic person, a person with learning disabilities, or a health/social care professional, we’d really like to hear how receiving or giving support has changed your life for the better.

You can do this by creating your own video, or perhaps writing about your experiences. Either way, we’d like to hear your story!

How to make your own video

If you have access to a smartphone, you can tell us about your experiences by recording a short video.

The video to the right provides you with some top tips on how to do so.

How to tell your story:

a guide for Experts by Experience

We call those with lived experience of autism or learning disabilities ‘Experts by Experience’. If that’s you, we’ve made a video explaining what you might like to say if you’d like to make a video for us.

You can talk about your experiences however you like, but we hope you find this useful!

How to tell your story:

a guide for Care Professionals

If you work as a professional in the health or social care sector, this video is a guide on what you might like to say if you’d like to make a video for us.

We encourage you to talk about your experiences however you like, though!
